Taj Mahal is a Mughal architecture of love and remembrance. It was built by emperor Shah Jahan in 1632 AD in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. At the age of 14, Mumtaj married Emperor Shah Jahan in 1628 AD. Mumtaj is remembered always for her beauty and she was often referred to as one of the most beautiful women of her time. Her features were so exquisite that Shah Jahan is recorded in his own chronicles of the time, saying, "Carrying light in her face, she had features so lovely they defied description." Mumtaj died on 17th June 1631 AD while giving birth to her 14th child, Gauhara Begum. Despite being very sick at that time, Mumtaj insisted upon accompanying Shah Jahan on his military campaign in Afghanistan. Mumtaz died due to childbirth complications at Burhanpur (the headquarters of the Deccan province) after giving birth to her last child. Shah Jahan commemorated his beloved wife by building the Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan's architectural master piece was built over a period of 20 years, beginning in 1632 AD. Taj Mahal was the final and eternally beautiful and perfect statement and tribute made by Emperor Shah Jahan to his beloved Queen Mumtaz Mahal.
